Hydrocarbons: Algeria’ Sonatrach, Norway’s Equinor sign MoU

ALGIERS- Sonatrach and Norwegian group Equinor, on Monday in Algiers, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to consider the cooperation opportunities in the fields of exploration and production of hydrocarbons, in Algeria and abroad.

The signing of the MoU strengthens the existing partnership between Equinor and Sonatrach. The MoU also includes cooperation within greenhouse gas emissions and carbon management, industrial safety management, implementation of technology to increase hydrocarbon recovery and development of a model for driving high-performance oil operations.

Equinor entered Algeria in 2004. It is a partner with Sonatrach and BP (British Petrolium) in In Salah and In Amenas, as well as a partnership on exploration in the Timissit licence.
