Algeria’s second largest mobile network operator by subscriptions Djezzy – owned by the government’s National Investment Fund (Fonds National d’Investissement, FNI) – has signed a partnership agreement with fellow state-backed group Algerie Telecom (AT) – the country’s fixed line incumbent and sister company of the cellular market leader Algerie Telecom Mobile (Mobilis), with the main aim of ‘sharing value-added services’ to improve quality of service (QoS), Agence Ecofin reported. AT CEO Adel Bentoumi stated that the partnership forms part of his company’s strategy which places citizens at the heart of its concerns, while Djezzy’s acting general manager Mahieddine Allouche declared that the agreement will create synergies in order to improve QoS for customers, adding that: ‘This association with Algerie Telecom will open the door to great opportunities for collaboration and cooperation, bringing added value to the ecosystem and new services to citizens.’

TeleGeography's ClobalComms Database notes that multinational telecoms group VEON completed its exit from Djezzy’s ownership on 5 August 2022 when it received USD682 million payment from FNI for its remaining 45.6% stake.
