Algeria hosts First High-Level Unit of College “5+5 Defense” 12th training session

ALGIERS-Algeria hosts, on 15-16 November, the First High-level Unit of the 12th training session of the “5+5 Defense” College on “Cybersecurity.” The Department of Employment-Preparation of the Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP) organizes the event at the National Circle of the Army in Algiers, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) said Monday in a statement.

“As part of the Action Plan of the” 5 + 5 Defense “Initiative for the year 2021, Algeria will host on November 15 and 16, 2021, at the level of the National Army Circle, the First High-level Unit of the 12th training session of the “5+5 Defense” College, under the theme “The cybersecurity issue in the 5 + 5 space”, organized by the Employment-Preparation Department of the General Staff of the People’s National Army, said the same source.

The opening of the works, in which general officers and executives of the Ministry of National Defense took part in addition to specialists and university researchers, was supervised by Major General Hasnat Belkacem, head of the Employment department, who underlined, in his opening speech, that the organization of this Module is of great importance, especially in view of the current upsurge in cyber-attacks on the one hand, their rapid development and the difficulty of identifying the parties that commit them from another part, which constitute a major challenge for our Armed Forces, called to to guarantee the protection and security of operational systems against the various cybernetic threats and dangers that the world knows, “added the press release.

This training session which takes place in Algeria in the form of conferences, led by Algerian military and civilian executives, specialists in cybersecurity and cyber-defense, and which brings together representatives of member countries of the “5 + 5 Defense” initiative “, will shed light on technical and operational subjects, like the cooperation and coordination mechanisms between the countries of the region for a joint management of the challenges raised by cybersecurity and the challenges of an effective realization of a coherent legal body adapted to the field of cybersecurity “.

“This opportunity will also make it possible to highlight the operational capacities and expertise of our country and to strengthen the exchange of knowledge and the sharing of experiences in the cybernetics field between the armies of the member countries”, noted the same communiqué.
