Algeria-Italy: Communication technologies-related partnership discussed

The Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Brahim Boumzar received, today, Thursday, January 28th, 2021, the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy in Algeria, Giovani PUGLIESE.

According to a ministry statement, the two parties reviewed the most important aspects of the partnership between the two countries in the field of communication as well as information and communication technologies.

In this vein, both sides expressed readiness to further strengthen cooperation and boost investments generating jobs for youth.

Earlier on Tuesday, Minister of Energy Transition and Renewable Energies, Chems Eddine Chitour, received the Italian Ambassador to Algeria, Giovanni Pugliese.

According to a ministry statement, the two sides discussed prospects for developing cooperation relations in the energy transition sector.

They, also, reviewed the state of the Algerian-Italian relations in the field of renewable energies and energy efficiency and the prospects for their development.

The statement indicated that Energy Minister presented the axes of cooperation with the Italian side in the fields of energy, covering geothermal energy, solar energy, electric transportation, scientific research, and green hydrogen.

In this vein, supporting standardization laboratories, through mutual sharing of expertise, experience, skills and capacity enhancement, was at the heart of discussions that took place at the ministry’s headquarters.

The Minister called on Italian companies to invest in the local manufacturing of equipment needed to develop the renewable energy industry, while expressing Algeria’s readiness to further enhance bilateral cooperation with Italy in the fields of geothermal and hydropower energies.

For his part, the Italian Ambassador shed lights on the common interests of the two countries in the fields of renewable energies and energy efficiency, stressing that converting to those types of energies would create a favorable environment for new partnerships, and, thus, ensure sustainable development.

As such, the Italian Diplomat, also indicated, the willingness of Italian companies to accompany the sector in its various projects and to facilitate and encourage the development of micro-enterprises, emerging enterprises and small and medium ones.
