Sonatrach: Double efforts to preserve Algeria’s energy security

ALGIERS- The CEO of the Sonatrach Group, Toufik Hakkar stressed the imperative to double efforts to increase production in order to preserve Algeria’s energy security as well as its foreign exchange earnings, said, on Saturday, the public group statement.

Mr. Hakkar made a working and inspection visit to the maintenance department under the transfer by pipeline of Laghouat, where he recalled “the imperative to double the effort and renew the national oil and gas reserves, ”the statement added.

The CEO, also, insisted on the rationalization of expenses in view of the current economic situation marked by the decline in fuel prices on a global scale.

During his visit, Mr. Hakkar listened to a detailed presentation on the missions and activity of the management before discussing with the executives on the various concerns of the staff.

Mr. Hakkar’s second stop was the industrial zone of Hassi Rmel where he inquired about the rate of progress of the works of the gas treatment and compression station (center).

He also listened to a presentation on this strategic project, the objective of which is to recover the reserves of the Hassi Rmel gas field with an additional volume of nearly 400 billion m3.

Mr Hakkar also highlighted “the importance of periodic maintenance in the group’s activities and the condition of the equipment which guarantees the continuity of the structures’ activity and reduces maintenance invoices”.

The CEO of Sonatrach emphasized the importance of the human element in this activity, while insisting on training and supervision of skills.
