Gas exports to decrease to 30 billion m³ from 2030

August 16, 2020

ALGIERS-Minister of Energy Abdelmadjid Attar announced, Wednesday, that Algeria’s future gas exports will decrease as from 2025 and will be reduced to 25 to 30 billion cubic meters (m³) as from 2030.

In a statement to the APS on the sidelines of the work of the Government-Walis meeting, Mr. Attar noted that some press outlets, repeating his statements, “sowed great confusion” on future gas exports from Algeria, specifying that this is “completely baseless and wrong”.

The Minister of Energy mentioned that with “the proven reserves currently remaining and the increase in domestic consumption, Algeria’s future gas exports will decrease as from 2025 and will be reduced to 25 to 30 billion cubic meters (m³) as from 2030.
“.

Hence the need, he stressed, “to explore, improve recovery rates and why not go to shale gas, if necessary because of domestic needs beyond 2030”.
