President Tebboune orders revision of unemployment allowance, wages, superannuation

ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune ordered the government, at a Council of Ministers meeting he chaired Sunday, to proceed with the revision of the unemployment benefit and the list of recipients, workers’ wages and retirement pensions, in line with the financial balances, with a view to introducing them into the Finance Act 2023, the presidency of the Republic said in a statement.

“The President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune chaired, Sunday, a meeting to discuss and approve many presentations on a variety of sectors.”

The meeting’s agenda included the preparation for the start of the school year 2022-2023, the recent forest fires and the measures taken to deal with them, the harvest-threshing campaign, the draft organic law on information, in addition to bills relating to the broadcast industry and the strengthening of national unity, the presidency of the Republic said in a statement.

At the start of the meeting, Mr. President and the members of the Government observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the recent forest fires. This was followed by a presentation by the Prime Minister Aïmene Benabderrahmane on the activity of the Government since the last meeting of the Council held on July 17, 2022.

“Regarding the revision of wages, retirement pensions and unemployment benefit, the President of the Republic has ordered the government to revise the unemployment benefit and the list of beneficiaries, workers’ salaries and retirement pensions, in line with the financial balances, with a view to introducing them into the Finance Act 2023,” added the same source.
