Oran International Airport: State to pay remaining amount to complete work of new air terminal

ALGIERS- The Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, Aïmene Benabderrahmane, announced, Monday in Oran, that the state will sponsor the remaining financial amount to complete the works of the construction of the new air terminal of the international airport “Ahmed Ben Bella” in Oran.

On the sidelines of receiving a presentation on the new air terminal as part of his inspection visit to the province, Mr. Aïmene Benabderrahmane stressed the need to “control the deadlines for completion and expenditures in the realization of projects,” noting that this is the last time the state will take care of such additional expenses.

On the same subject, he said: “We have given directives to complete the studies in a mature and scientific way to start embodying the project to deliver it within the specified deadlines,” stressing his “categorical” refusal to exceed these deadlines.

On the other hand, Mr. Aïmene Benabderrahmane stressed the importance of the optimal management of this facility with daily and periodic maintenance, follow-up and escort operations to ensure its sustainability, while subjecting human resources to training courses in the environmental field to preserve green spaces and maintenance of technical and electronic devices, including solar panels.

The project, whose realization progress has reached 92 percent, also includes the completion of the cargo area (import and export) in accordance with applicable international standards, covering an area of ​​4,000 square meters.

It also completed the works of constructing a new dual carriageway at a distance of 2 km leading to the new air terminal, including the installation of public lighting and the completion of green spaces, sponsored by the West Airports Management Corporation.

The project also includes a parking lot for aircraft expected to be received by the end of next November after expanding its capacity to 29 aircrafts, including 7 large-sized and 22 medium and small aircrafts.

As soon as the new air station enters into service, it will begin the process of reconfiguring the current station, which will be allocated after the completion of work to domestic flights, according to the explanations of the director of Oran International Airport “Ahmed Ben Bella.”
