One hundred families in Sakiet Sidi Youssef benefit from Algerian natural gas under agreement between both countries

(TAP) - Tunisia has officially launched the supply of Algerian natural gas to the city of Sakiet Sidi Youssef, a first step that will target 100 families, pending the extension of the network to the entire city.

The cost of sending Algerian gas pumping into the domestic network was given by the Minister of Industry and SMEs, Slim Feriani and the Algerian Minister of Energy, Mustapha Guitouni, on the fringes of the two countries' celebration of the 61st anniversary of the events of Sakiet Sid Youssef during which the French army bombed the city on 8 February 1958.

A framework agreement was signed to this effect between the two countries by the CEO of the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) and his Algerian counterpart to implement this partnership project.

STEG President Moncef Harrabi told TAP that the company is working to provide gas for heating to the primary school 2 Mars in Sakiet Sidi Youssef as part of a charity initiative.
