Cuban Chamber of Commerce willing to assist SA companies trade with their counterparts

The Cuban Chamber of Commerce has expressed its willingness to assist South African companies and investors who are willing to trade and invest in different sectors of the economy. This was said by the chamber’s International Relations Officer for Africa and Middle East, Mr Marcel Blanco at the week-long Havana Trade Fair (FIHAV) in Cuba.

'With more than 800 businesses that are linked to the Chamber, we are willing to assist South African companies in the area of key economy. The energy, tourism and agro-processing sectors are some of the sectors that are willing to collaborate on joint ventures, 'said Blanco.

He added that there was a lot that can be learned from interactions and collaborations, and also through doing research.

The Managing Director of Formatube, Ms. Samantha Issacs, who manufactures steel and aluminum products in Somerset, Cape Town, has been in the steel sector with the new developments currently taking place in Cuba.

'Seeing the new developments in Cuba has given me more insights as far as the Cuban infrastructure and development is concerned. My products could be used in homes, hotels, roads, bridges and shopping centers, 'said Issacs.

The Marketing Director of the Stellenbosch-based La Ricmal Wines, Mr. Malcolm Green, said his company gathered important market intelligence in relation to the wine industry that would assist in choosing the correct importer and distributor for the company.

'I have also been with Haiti who has signed the importers agreement with us to market our wines in Cuba. The process is still on-going, but all indications are that we could see our wines in this market in the near future, 'said Green.

The International Relations Manager or Maverick Safaris, Ms. Luz-Helena Hanauer said that she was visited by the military attachés of the Caribbean and South American countries who were interested in her products.
