International E-Commerce Company, Ambano Set to Sign Agreement with Kenyan Firm Keen on Doing Business with China

Amanbo an International e-commerce platform that seeks to boost trade relations between China and Africa, is set to sign strategic cooperation agreements with the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) and local Kenyan companies keen on doing business with China.

The deals will be signed during the upcoming China Trade Week (CTW), an event that brings together 100-plus Chinese companies and over 16,000 participants to encourage trade and investment among stakeholders from various industries. The event will run from 13th to 20th June, 2018.

KNCCI members keen on trading and exporting to China have already been encouraged to visit the Amanbo Pavillion during the China Trade Week. The Chamber of Commerce has negotiated for its members to exhibit their products and services in the Amanbo Pavillion in China for free throughout the year.

The 4th China Trade Week will feature segments covering various lucrative sectors, including: building materials, HVAC, lighting, construction material, environment treatment, furniture and interior decor, Textiles, consumer goods, and automobiles, among others.

The event comes less than two weeks after Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta received credentials from three new ambassadors to Kenya, including China’s first female ambassador to Kenya, Sun Baohong.

The President told Baohong that Kenya had enjoyed a strong mutual understanding with her predecessor, Liu Xianfa, and hoped that the partnership between the two countries will continue during her term in Nairobi.

At the meeting, the new ambassador pledged to use her new position to enhance Sino-Kenyan relations and deepen ties between Nairobi and Beijing.

CTW also comes less than two months after President Kenyatta hailed increased trade and stronger bilateral relationships Kenya has with China.

The Head of State made the remarks when he bade farewell to outgoing ambassador Liu Xianfa of China. President Kenyatta thanked the Chinese envoy for the personal role he has played in strengthening the relationship between Kenya and China.

At the time, it emerged that the Standard Gauge Railway, which stands out as the largest single infrastructure project in the region, was started and completed during the tenure of Mr Xianfa in Nairobi. Liu has also played a leading role in the elevation of the bilateral relations between Kenya and China to the level of strategic cooperation.

The China Trade Week series was inspired by the Belt and Road initiative and has so far been a huge success. It started in 2013 at the United Arab Emirates which was warmly welcomed by the local business community.

It was then followed by the first African event in Kenya in 2015 which had an even bigger response. CTW was encouraged by the African Union to expand its scope. As a result, CTW is now hosted in Ghana, Ethiopia, South Africa, Iran, and Morocco.
